KEMAH LIGHTHOUSE
Location: Kemah, Galveston County, Texas.
This lighthouse is at Highway 146 and 9th Street in Kemah, behind the fire department.
History: Built in 2006 by the Galveston County Water Control & Improvement District #12.
Construction funding provided by The State of Texas - Office of Rural Communtiy Affairs.
Registered as a private aid to navigation.
Construction Type & Design: Dual purpose structure serves as a water tower for the City of Kemah and as a lighthouse near the entrance to Clear Lake from Galveston Bay. Blue and white 300,000 gallon standpipe topped with a red octagonal lantern room.
Tower Height: 144 feet
Height of Focal Plane: 151 feet
Light Type: Third order rotating Fresnel type lens flashing white every 7.5 seconds.
